Former Sheridan parole officer accused of sexual assault

SHERIDAN, Wyo. (AP) — A former Sheridan probation and parole officer accused of having a romantic relationship with a woman he supervised has pleaded not guilty to felony second-degree sexual assault.

The Sheridan Press reports ( ) Chris Yager, who entered his plea Thursday, is accused of engaging in a five-month romantic relationship with the woman.

State law forbids sexual relationships between probation officers and their charges for a time after the supervisory period ends. In this case, Yager’s direct supervision of the woman ended in August 2012. The alleged relationship occurred between January and May of this year.

Wyoming Department of Corrections spokesman Mark Horan says Yager no longer works for the department.
