Festival of Trees a Rapid City tradition

The 2011 Festival of Trees was held at the civic center Friday and Saturday.

It is the 14th year that Behavior Management Systems has hosted the celebration.  It’s also part of the KOTA Care & Share food drive.

Organizers say more than 500 people showed up for Friday night’s banquet and auction.

On Saturday, a crowd of around 3,000 braved the snow and slippery roads to admire all of the beautifully decorated trees and wreaths before they’re shipped to their new owners.

“You can just tell when you watch the parents and the kids come …and you see them catch a glimpse of Santa Claus that it just starts putting people in the mood for Christmas,” said Alan Solano, CEO of behavior Management Systems.

All the trees are donated by local businesses and decorated by volunteers.
